What is Cross Country?

High school cross country is a 5000 meter race (3.1 miles).  It usually takes place over a      variety of terrains.

Most weeknight dual meets take place on a high school campus.  Most weekend invitationals take place in parks or other outdoor settings.

An average time for a high school girl is 21 minutes.

Cross Country is a sport that pairs endurance with speed.  It is necessary to build up an endurance base during the summer to prepare for the season.
